This watercolor sketch depicts a tranquil bamboo forest extending beyond the roof of an old temple, bathed in abundant sunlight. The appearance of the bamboo and trees, gleaming in golden and vivid green hues from the light filtering down from above, creates a contrast with the shadows of the heavy tiled roof in the lower left. The beautiful blurring and light gradations, unique to watercolor, evoke a sense of deep, clear atmosphere and a calm, fleeting moment..
